Welcome to our veterinary family! Proudly serving the Glendale community since 1986, our practice began with five passionate partners who shared a vision of compassionate, quality care for pets. Through the years, we have grown and evolved, welcoming several associate veterinarians and expanding our services to meet the needs of our community.
In 1999, Dr. Jacoby took the reins, bringing fresh energy and ideas. By 2004, Dr. Melinda Striyle joined as a partner, and in 2007, she became the sole owner. Fast forward to 2023, and we welcomed Dr. Jessica Darmofal as our newest partner, marking an exciting new chapter in our journey.
Our commitment to education and community involvement is unwavering. From 2004 to 2007, we proudly hosted a veterinary assistant program right here on our hospital campus, fostering the next generation of animal care professionals.
We became AAHA certified in 2009, and every 3 years we go through reaccreditation to maintain our high standards of medicine, client communication and pet comfort. All of our staff are also Fear Free Certified. Our doctors take 50 plus hours of continuing education each year and support staff each take 15 plus hours of continuing education as well.
Giving Back to Our Community
We believe in the power of community and giving back. Over the years, we've hosted numerous events to support local pet and human charities, including:
- Dog Washes: Benefiting underprivileged pets and their families.
- BBQs and Educational Fairs: Fun, educational events that raise money for local pet charities.
- Internal Angel Fund: Helping pet parents with financial constraints.
- Pet and Human Food Drives: Ensuring no one in our community goes hungry.
- Breast Cancer Awareness: Participating in walks and hosting "Bras for the Cause" events to raise money for breast cancer awareness.
- Red Cross Collaboration: Supporting human blood donation efforts.
Commitment to Lifelong Learning
We are dedicated to fostering the growth of our team members. Many have started as assistants and progressed to nursing, with some going on to tech school or even veterinary school. A few have joined veterinary specialty hospitals, reflecting our commitment to career development. Our veterinarians regularly attend over 50 hours of continuing education each year, and some have pursued certifications in special interests like acupuncture. All of our staff have Fear Free Certifications and support staff take 15 hours of continuing education per year.
As a preceptor hospital for senior veterinary students, we offer internships for technicians and veterinary assistant programs, as well as opportunities for high school students in veterinary technology programs. Our mission is to inspire and nurture the next generation of veterinary professionals.
Join us as we continue to grow, learn, and give back to the community that has supported us for decades. We look forward to many more years of serving Glendale's beloved pets and their families!
